My two year old LOVES toothpaste. Will it hurt him?

I am worried about him swallowing so much of it. He would really brush his teeth for hours if we let him. He will brush, and then ask for more toothpaste. He does this until we finally say - NO ... You may not brush your teeth anymore LOL. I've heard about "training toothpaste" but we've never tried it.

Too much toothpaste is not good for a toddler if there is a regular amount of fluoride in it. If it is adult toothpaste you should limit the child to a pea size amount with every brushing. It is a wonderful thing that your child loves to brush so much, so continue to encourage that behaviour. You can supplement the fluoride toothpaste with a paste that has no fluoride in it for those longer brushing periods.
