The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is: "Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke."  Founded in 1924, the American Heart Association has grown o become a full advocacy agency, and since March 1995, the organization has made strides toward  Providing credible heart disease and stroke information for effective prevention and treatment nationwide.
